About

About This Site – Safe Secure Homes

My name is Richard, and I’m the owner of this site.

I started this site at the beginning of 2021, as a sort of hobby blog to help people improve the safety and security of their homes, families and possessions.

Since then, over 150,000 of you have visisted the site (at current time January 2023), meaning it’s gone from more of a hobby blog to something I have a huge passion for.

In fact, I have received hundreds of comments and emails in that time thanking me for helping them out with the advice I have given to people over the past 2 years.

I have nearly 20 years experience in safety and security across many roles across various different companies, police forces and agencies.

I’ve held police roles far and wide, from community policing to being a police firearms officer protecting UK assets.

And I’ve held civilian roles ranging from community safety to security advice for schools, residential properties and businesses.

Principles

All of the articles on this site, and the advice within are written by me.

These articles are underpinned by some basic principles; safety first, always.

Safety in and around the home is paramount, for you and your family.

And then deter, detect and deny principles – the basic principles of home security.

These principles are widely and commonly known for best practice, so everything written on this site is underpinned by tried and tested principles and best practices from a broad range of industries across the world.
